Good Company

Located at the end of a private drive in Winnetka, this traditional brick home serves as a hidden hub for an active young family and frequent multigenerational gatherings. We were initially asked to reimagine the living room to support both formal entertaining and everyday family life. What began as a living room commission has since grown into a full-home transformation. Full reveal coming fall 2026.

A MODERN CENTERPIECE

We designed a custom fireplace clad in Calacatta Monet marble to ground the space. The clean-lined surround provides a contemporary counterpoint, lending subtle edge to the home’s traditional architecture.

COMFORT ZONES
AND LAYERED EXPERIENCES

Designed for both everyday family life and formal entertaining, the room balances generous proportions with distinct gathering zones. A wool rug layered over a custom-shaped sisal anchors the primary conversation area. Tailored window treatments add depth, while durable materials and a restrained palette lend cohesion without sacrificing livability.

Furniture planning prioritized generous circulation and multiple seating zones to accommodate both large gatherings and everyday use. The scale and placement of each piece support flexibility without sacrificing cohesion.

EVERYTHING IN PERFECT HARMONY

The baby grand was a non-negotiable element — three young sons all play. We integrated the piano to blend seamlessly within the space, rather than dominating the room. The design functions equally well for music, conversation, entertaining, and family time.
